Sin City: The Hard Goodbye

This is the 1^st collected series, a re-visitation that I am doing for this blog, partly because of the fact that there is a new movie coming out this fall & also this is a series of work that is understood better if it is read together.  This 1^st volume The Hard Goodbye introduces us to the character of Marv.  Marv is in my opinion the number 1 supporting character of all of the Sin City yarns because he is in the background of most of the stories.  When I 1^st read this book the 1^st movie was just coming out.  The plot is pretty strait forward underdog / loser goes up against the most powerful family in the city for revenge of a lost loved one.  If you don’t like lots of graphic violence this series may not be for you.  I have to admit this story has lost some of the appeal for me.  The story is interesting & a good read but for me the art is still the main thing that draws me in hopefully that will remain true as I continue through the series.
